setting intentions

San Juan Resole was born out of the desire to work on designing my life here in the San Juan Mountains of SW Colorado. I had the thought of the reality and purity of designing the life you want to live and cultivating the necessary actions in order to bring that into fruition. For whatever reason, on a walk with the dogs one day on the trails in my neighborhood that we hike daily, this concept of life-design resonated with me very loudly.
We completed the daily loop and upon getting home, I told my wife I wanted to “go for it”-- work towards this idea of a resoling and footwear repair business that had been circulating in my mind for some time. After getting laid off from a remote corporate position in 2024, it had been a year-plus of constant job searching, doing seasonal labor jobs, and stressing about how to stay here and make things work in this place I love that has become home over the years. This inspiration of starting my own venture and taking control of my own life-design gave me reprieve from anxiety and offered an excitement, goal, and path I could put energy into.

It’s been a journey of dead ends, ghosted emails, high tariff costs, brainstorming, and most importantly support from friends and loved ones. This route has proved to be more cryptic and winding than I would have imagined and like most summits, took longer and was more difficult than it appeared at the valley floor.
I am writing this on a dreary, seasonally confused morning, the first of 2026 with the ground soaked in not snow, but freezing rain here outside of my shop at 7,600 ft, just west of town. Here at the shop we are actively awaiting a very important delivery that will connect the circle of an idea and a reality.

San Juan Resole will begin taking orders shortly and I am excited to lean into the process of connecting deeper with the community and providing a service rooted in a love of footwear, an obsession and connection with the mountains, and a goal of aiding in a mindset of less consumption and a deeper focus on longevity.
Thank you for the interest and the support! Stay tuned…
